A Reason for Existence
The basic reason why we are creating this space is really to experiment with the idea of 'free association' within the context of the digital information age, instantaneously global communication causes the information to flow like quicksilver across the globe. We have barely begun to grasp how the acceleration of information will affect the transformation of social and political consciousness, opening upthe possibility that many people will actually rapidly realise that the world we love is in greatest danger.
People who sign up here would likely agree that we need seriously need to do something to change the whole world and that our most likely chance of success consists in coordinated global movement and action, a universal orientation of all thinking people, with our minds set to the singular goal, of doing away with oppression and exploitation.
If that sounds far-fetched and impossible, consider the alternatives, that it is quite possible that everything we love will be destroyed in the next period as the great war that is unfolding in an age of perpetual imperialist warfare - which points ever closer to the point of complete annihilation of human society, picture a world inhabited only by the cockroaches which will apparently survive, even a nuclear holocaust. Don't Die Stupid. That threat today is very real. Einstein saw it 60 years ago when he warned that the threat of general annihilation looms ever larger on the horizon. Yet there are millions of people around the world who are ready to stand up to defend the earth now, to defend the future of humanity now, to say no to the abuse of people and nature, to overcome the system of capitalism, to heal the colonised mind, to set about curing the pathology of greed and to create a new healthy society, the kind that we would like to live in, the global commune, a more just world in which we can move freely, in which everyone has equal opportunities and equal entitlement to the bounty of the earth and the fruit of life, in which we are free of the control and domination of one man by another. Why nnot? It is all possible. We surely must say no to the random and thoughtless destruction of the environment and of the earth's children. We must resist the injustice and stand up for our own. We are coming together now to defend the possibility of a truly human future, because it is already within view. This planet is our home. Let us plan the way forward together my friends, we are proving the real possibility and actuality of the new society is already emerging, even here on these pages, from the painful and deadly crisis of the old.
